Chorley Gymnastics Classes

About Our Classes

At Chorley Gymnastics, our recreational programme takes children on a journey from their very first pre-school class right through to advanced level gymnastics. Whether your child is just beginning or is keen to develop more challenging skills, our structured pathway provides the right balance of fun, progression, and achievement. Every gymnast will also have the chance to take part in at least two optional competitions each year, with additional invitational events available for those who wish to get more involved.

Beginner Classes

Beginners sessions are available from school age and last for 45 minutes. They are fun, organised, and structured, giving children the chance to learn and build confidence in basic gymnastics skills. Gymnasts can begin working towards the IGA Badge Scheme, and those who wish to attend more than one class per week are very welcome to do so. Once a gymnast reaches our internal criteria, a coach will let you know when they are ready to move into the Intermediate classes.

Intermediate Classes

Intermediate classes are one and a half hours long and give children the time and space to develop harder skills. Gymnasts begin to work on shoots on bars, handstand-based vaults, and acro skills on the beam. Like the earlier stages, there is the option to attend multiple sessions per week.

Advanced Classes

Advanced classes also run for one and a half hours. At this stage, gymnasts focus on more complex skills such as flics and handsprings, top bar routines, further acro work on beam, and flighted dismounts. As with the other levels, gymnasts may choose to attend more than one session per week.

Pre-Squad

For young gymnasts who show exceptional talent and physical potential, we offer three pre-squad groups. These are by invitation only and provide a fast-track route towards our competitive squads. Pre-squad gymnasts train for three hours per week and focus on developing the skills they need to prepare for competition.

Viewing

We encourage parents to feel part of their child’s gymnastics journey. Our open-door policy means you are always welcome to come into the gym to talk with our coaching team. However, spectating is reserved for Watching Weeks, which take place during the final seven days of each calendar month. During these sessions, parents are invited to watch their child’s progress from the viewing gallery upstairs.
